John Parker

Emeritus Professor, University of Sheffield

Following eight years at the University of Cambridge he moved to Sheffield University to specialize in Glass Technology (1972). 50 years on he is still teaching and curates their Turner Museum. An Honorary Fellow of the Society of Glass Technology and Honorary Member of the Deutsches Glastechnische Gesellshaft, he was for 21 years secretary of ICG’s Coordinating Technical Committee, receiving their Turner Award and President’s Award. He contributes to the ICG Winter and Summer Schools and is helping administer the UN International Year of Glass. Having published 200 books and technical articles, he now enjoys writing on Glassmaking History.
